Terry Nielsen is a Vice President at UISOL. He is currently working on the implementation of ERCOT Nodal Integration Project. He has over twenty years of experience in defining and developing software solutions for the utility industry. His experience includes development of energy management system applications, distribution management system applications and outage management systems.
Terry possesses in-depth and practical understanding of utility business principles and operational practices. Terry is also capable of doing financial analysis and modeling of utility business. He has significant experience working with executive and senior level management at large utilities.
Before joining UISOL, Terry held several leadership positions at CES International and SPL WorldGroup (now part of Oracle). This included a position as Vice President of Product Strategy where he did market requirements definition, product definition, and defined the product release content for the outage and distribution management systems (OMS/DMS) software products. His experience includes expertise in the areas of the operational business and process integration with Customer Information Systems (CIS), mobile data systems, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) systems and Geospatial Information Systems (GIS).
Prior to joining CES International, Terry was an application developer for Control Data (now part of Siemens) working on Energy Management Systems (EMS) network applications.
Terry has been involved in OMS and DMS implementations in the US at many utilities including: Kansas City Power and Light, Public Service of New Mexico, Consolidated Edison, and Southern Company. Outside of the United States, he has been involved in implementations at Northern Ireland Electricity, Electricity Supply Board (Ireland) and Allinta (Melbourne, Australia).
Terry holds a BSEE from Iowa State University. Terry is a senior member of the IEEE and he is active in the T&D Committee Working Group on system design of the IEEE Power Engineering Society. Terry has been a member of the DistribuTech Advisory Committee for over five years working on the distribution operations management committee. Terry is also a member of GITA.
