Murray Nixon, Vice President

Murray Nixon is a Vice President at UISOL. She is currently managing the implementation of ERCOT Nodal Integration Project. She has over 26 years of experience in various aspects of the domestic and international power utility industry. During Murray’s careers she has held leadership positions in business start-up, process improvement and transformation, information technology and large scale project management. At UISOL, Murray is helping utility clients define and execute process and system changes associated with major business transformations.

Prior to UISOL, Murray worked at Duke Energy Corporation. Following work on the Duke Energy and Cinergy merger integration teams, Murray’s last position at Duke was the start up of a new engineering and technical services support organization that provided process, technical and system improvement and integration services to all regulated and non-regulated generating assets.

In several positions over the years at Duke, Murray focused on the strategy, planning and execution of organization’s operational plans and their effectiveness in supporting core businesses. Prior to the position in engineering and technical services, Murray started up the first Duke Power group focused on human capital strategic planning. This group aligned the human capital needs with the long term business and financial strategies and plans.

Most of the leadership and project management positions Murray held at Duke were in the energy management and technology organizations in Duke Energy North America, Duke Energy International and Duke Engineering & Services. For nine years Murray held positions of increasing responsibility with the Duke Power energy management system. While at Duke Engineering & Services, Murray participated as a member of the California ISO implementation team. In her role as project manager, she provided oversight for the design, development, testing and implementation of the scheduling infrastructure and market operations subsystems. In her roles at Duke Energy North America and Duke Energy International, Murray lead teams focused on supporting and improving business processes for trading and marketing, risk management, e-business, and power generation.

In 1999, Murray was the first female recipient of the Duke Energy Pinnacle Award for leading the design and implementation of a real-time performance and cost-monitoring system critical to the integration of trading and marketing, plant operations and asset management business processes in North America. Awarded annually, the Pinnacle Award recognizes Duke Energy employees who achieve business results above and beyond expectations in the areas of customer service, innovation, business generation, financial performance, operational excellence and enhanced corporate capability or reputation. In 2000, Murray and the team that designed and developed the real-time performance and cost-monitoring system were the recipients of the Computer World Smithsonian laureate award and the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce Blue Diamond Award for “Best Use of Technology” award.

Murray just completed a term as a member of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School of Math and Science Advisory Board. She is a 2007-2009 inaugural member of the board of directors of the North Carolina Family and Consumer Sciences Foundation. Murray has a BS in Mathematics from Western California.
